Directors

The NSA Board of Directors provides strategic leadership to the school, operating as a policy maker and delegating the day-to-day management of the school to the NSA Principal. The board is comprised of five individuals who share a common vision for the school.

Matt Gompert

Matt, originally from a farming community in western Nebraska, moved to Colorado in 2003 after receiving a Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Nebraska.  He started his professional career with Johnson Controls, Inc. in Littleton, CO serving the building automation, HVAC, and energy management industry.  After working in the corporate world for over a decade, in 2016, Matt joined ATS Rocky Mountain, a local energy management and building automation company, where he currently acts as the General Manager for Colorado and Wyoming. 

 

Matt and his wife, Lindsey, have four children:  Mason, Madelyn, Merrick, and Micah.  Mason, Madelyn and Merrick have attended North Star Academy since Kindergarten.  Micah will be following quickly behind them.  Matt enjoys playing sports, coaching his kids’ sports teams, building and fixing things, home/yard projects, skiing, and anything else that helps him stay active and constructive.

Chris Gragg

Chris is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and moved to Colorado in 2008 after spending the prior 8 years living in Seattle.  He began his professional career as a district manager for Ford Motor Company in the Seattle region.  Following his time at Ford, Chris pursued his interests in e-commerce and internet marketing, operating an internet ad agency for 8 years before selling the business and moving on to his current position as Internet Sales Manager for Lennar Homes, where he has worked for the past 5 years.

 

Chris and his wife Whitney have 2 children: Garrett and Giuliana who have both attended North Star since kindergarten.    Chris enjoys spending time with his family, playing sports, hunting, skiing, and spending time outdoors.  When he’s not in the mountains, you can usually find him on the sidelines coaching or cheering for his kids' soccer teams.

Matthew is a Colorado Native who has lived in Parker since graduating from the University of Colorado in 2008.  He currently is the owner of BE EZ Consulting, LLC where he works as a fractional CFO for small businesses who are looking for scalable growth.  He previously worked in the Payroll and PEO space for 5 years, and before that he was a Litigation Consultant.  At the University of Colorado, he earned a BS and MS with an emphasis in Accounting, and currently holds his CPA, CFE and CFF licenses. 

 

Matthew and his wife, Vicki, have 2 children, Eiley and Dean.  Eiley will be attending NSA kindergarten in the Fall of 2023.  Our favorite activity in the summer is getting outside and camping with our 3 dogs.

Angela Swanson

Angela received her degree in Accounting from the University of Colorado at Denver and is a CPA and a Managing Director with Ernst & Young LLP. She provides financial statement audit services to public and private clients in Colorado. Angela previously served on the board of JA Engage, the young professional group for Junior Achievement – Rocky Mountain. In addition, she is active as a parent volunteer at North Star Academy previously serving on the auction committee and the school’s Foundation board. Angela and her husband have two boys, one of whom both attend NSA and she enjoys reading, baking and spending time outdoors in her free time.

Katie Samuels
Communications, Term Expires: 2027

Katie grew up in Highlands Ranch, CO and moved to Parker after getting married and starting a family in 2009.  She attended the University of Wyoming and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Speech Communications with an emphasis on Psychology. She worked in advertising sales until she had her first child and chose to dedicate her time towards raising her children as a stay at mom. She has served in various coaching and ministry roles and hosts a podcast where she shares her faith, and encourages growth in others. 

 

Katie and her husband Mason have 4 daughters, Tyla, Drey, Jada and Tavie who all attend North Star spanning from first to seventh grade.  Katie enjoys spending time with her friends and family, competing in anything, theme parties, UFC, stand up comedy, studying the Bible and traveling.
