The NSA Board of Directors provides strategic leadership to the school, operating as a policy maker and delegating the day-to-day management of the school to the NSA Principal. The board is comprised of five individuals who share a common vision for the school.

  Bill Brandsma
President, Term Expires: 2021

Bill is a CPA by trade and worked most recently as the Chief Financial Officer for Vicon Motion Systems located in Centennial, CO. Prior to Vicon, Bill worked for First Data Corporation for five years and in public accounting for two years with Andersen and KPMG. Additionally, Bill served as a Junior Varsity and Varsity Assistant Basketball Coach at Chaparral High School for 13 years and was recently hired as the Head Varsity Coach at Lutheran High School in Parker, CO.

Bill and his wife Tarrah have three children; Teagan, Tatelyn and Trey. Bill is a native of Colorado who enjoys golfing, hunting, fly fishing, and most of all spending time with his family.

Robin2   Robin Jennings
Vice President, Term Expires: 2019

Robin, who is originally from West Texas, has called Colorado home for the past 17 years.  She has worked in financial services her entire career and is currently the Director of Relationship Management for one of the four main business lines at Charles Schwab & Co.  Robin is active in the community and has previously held board positions with two different non-profit organizations.   She has also been a member of the Zonta Club of Denver for 14 years, which is an international organization dedicated service and advocacy.

Robin lives in Parker with her husband, James, and their two daughters, Regan and Ryann.  Both girls started NSA in kindergarten and have thrived in the environment it provides.  She enjoys volunteering, reading, traveling and spending time with friends and family.

  Jim Wilson
Treasurer, Term Expires: 2022

Jim is a CPA and a Partner with Ernst & Young LLP, where he has worked for the last 20 years.   He provides financial statement audit services to public and private clients in Colorado.  He also serves on the boards of other non-profits organizations including the Colorado BioScience Association and Junior Achievement – Rocky Mountain.  Prior to serving on the Board, Jim served on the NSA finance committee for several years.

Jim and his wife Danielle have four boys, Jonah, Hayden, Bennett and Fischer.  The youngest three currently attend NSA and the oldest, Jonah, attended NSA through the eighth grade.  Jim enjoys playing golf, camping and skiing with his family.

    Cindy Squires
Secretary, Term Expires: 2020

Cindy, originally from Trinidad and Tobago, grew up in San Diego and Central Florida, and has lived in six different countries.  She has called Colorado home for the past nine years.  Cindy is a Chartered Accountant and has worked in the accounting field for 15 years.  After working for large corporations, she decided to make the leap to entrepreneurship and started her own bookkeeping firm in Parker.  She is very community-focused and strives to be an advocate for charter schools in Douglas County.  She is also a volunteer with the Denver Dumb Friends League.

Cindy has two children, Anoushka and Zachary, both of whom have attended NSA since Kindergarten.  
Board member Matt Gompert   Matt Gompert
Communications Director, Term Expires: 2022

Matt, originally from a farming community in western Nebraska, moved to Colorado in 2003 after receiving a Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Nebraska.  He started his professional career with Johnson Controls, Inc. in Littleton, CO serving the building automation, HVAC, and energy management industry.  After working in the corporate world for over a decade, in 2016, Matt joined ATS Rocky Mountain, a local energy management and building automation company, where he currently acts as the General Manager for Colorado and Wyoming. 


Matt and his wife, Lindsey, have four children:  Mason, Madelyn, Merrick, and Micah.  Mason, Madelyn and Merrick have attended North Star Academy since Kindergarten.  Micah will be following quickly behind them.  Matt enjoys playing sports, coaching his kids’ sports teams, building and fixing things, home/yard projects, skiing, and anything else that helps him stay active and constructive.
