Leadership Team

Kendra Hossfeld, Principal

I am a life-long learner with a background in curriculum and design, differentiated instruction, school management and educational leadership. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and completed my Master’s degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Colorado. I I earned my K-12 Principal license from the Colorado Department of Education. I co-founded North Star Academy, a John Irwin School of Excellence, and Core Knowledge charter school in Parker, Colorado. As a co-founder of North Star Academy I have served as the school’s Curriculum Director, Dean of Middle School, and Assistant Principal. I believe that every child can reach their highest potential if they are challenged and engaged. Providing students with a solid education while teaching meaningful character traits results in high academic achievement and strong academic growth. Children inspire me and it is my pleasure to lead them in their education. I spend my free time exploring the outdoors with my family.

Mary Clarke, Assistant Principal
NSA has been a home away from home for me, and there is nowhere else I’d rather be. I believe in what we do at North Star Academy to educate our children and look forward to our students’ growth each year.  I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Montana State University-Billings, a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Penn State, and a Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership from Kaplan University. I love to learn and my goal has always been to pass my love of learning onto my students.  I look forward to working with our students each year to help them learn and grow to their fullest potential!

Kyle Roberts, Assistant Principal
I was born and raised in Colorado. I have a masters in administration from the University of Denver.  I worked for Aurora Public Schools before coming to North Star Academy in 2011 to teach middle school math.  It has been a wonderful experience to go from teacher to Assistant Principal at North Star.  My wife, Tiffany, is the Pre-K Director and Teacher. We have four children. 3 of whom attend NSA.  I am very excited for the new adventures this year will bring working with such a wonderful staff and student body.

Charo Egan, Dean K-8
Charo grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, earned her BA in Psychology for University of Notre Dame and her Master in Psychology from University of Colorado.  After years of volunteering in her children's schools, she realized her passion lies in education.  She obtained her teaching certificate from Western State and began working at North Star Academy in 2014. Eager to learn about the many facets of a school and how they interconnect, Charo explored a variety of roles: special education assistant, fourth-grade reading teacher, sixth-grade writing teacher, and Gifted and Talented facilitator.  She eventually pursued a leadership position after earning her educational leadership license. Charo loves everything about North Star Academy: the character education program, the high standards for academics, the close-knit and supportive staff, students, and families, and the warm and welcoming culture.  She considers it an absolute pleasure to be a part of this community.  All three of her children attended NSA, and she believes they couldn't have chosen a better school!
