History

North Star Academy was created during the summer of 2004 by a group of parents with a strong desire to create a more challenging and meaningful educational program for their children and the community at large. Our founding team was comprised of many wonderful parents, teachers and community members with diverse backgrounds who shared a common vision for the school.

The school’s founders envisioned a school that would welcome all students, families, educators and community members in an educational partnership. They desired a school that supported different learning and teaching styles, modeled collaboration and communication within the learning community, and motivated students to become lifelong learners, critical thinkers and responsible community members.

After two years of planning and development, North Star Academy opened in the fall of 2006 with 350 students and a vision to become an extraordinary place of learning, growth and change.
