COVID-19 Resources

March 21, 2020
NSA Families,
North Star Academy staff members have been preparing for a positive and meaningful remote learning experience as we continue to work with the District and State regarding expectations. Please be in communication with your child’s teacher and exercise some flexibility as we make our greatest effort to provide our students with opportunities to learn.
Remote Instructional Resources
We would like to offer you one more chance to gain access to a student laptop. Middle school students should have their own device; however we know that there are families in need of a laptop to participate in remote instruction. We will have student laptops available for you to pick up and check out Monday, March 23rd from 9:00 am-11:00 am. Please use the NSA carpool line to pick up your computer. You will not need to get out of your car, just simply drive up and we will get you your laptop. We will have a technology check-out form for you to complete. Remember, remote instruction will begin on March 24th.
We want to make remote learning easy for you and your family. We will be providing you with a sample schedule you might use as a guideline. Here are some free programs for you to use at your discretion in addition to the lessons provided by teachers:
NSA has 30 days of free Brain Pop: for grades K-2 for grades 3rd-5th for Spanish for ELL

State Testing Cancelled
The Colorado Department of Education announced that they are waiving all state testing requirements for the spring. Our 3rd-8th grade students will not be taking CMAS for the 2019/2020 school year.
If you have any IT related questions or issues during this time, please reach out to your teacher first and then Tina Gamard our IT technician. If you have any mental health concerns please reach out to Jaime Turner, our school psychologist or 911 in the case of an emergency. As always, I am available to answer any questions you might have or direct you to the correct person.
Thank you for the beautiful flowers. Looking at them reminds me of your child’s precious smile as they so enthusiastically delivered them. Wishing you and your family health and strength!
