Thank you to all who supported the Scholastic book fair this year. It was a huge success! A big thank you to those who donated money to support the Hurricane Harvey victims with your left over change. We raised $75 for ‘All For Books’ and will be sending some new books to a school in Houston. We so appreciate your support!
Attention all NSA Families:
Please be aware that ALL families need to fill out the Returning Family Commitment Letter. The letter will be coming home in the students Thursday Folder. Please complete and return the letter, to the office, no later than November 2nd to secure your student(s) enrollment for 2018/2019 school year. Please contact Michelle Snyder, Registrar, at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
We are always excited to welcome new families to North Star. Many of our families found out about the school from other enrolled families. If you are asked about enrollment, let them know it’s easy to get into the lottery. Just go to our website: www.nstaracademy.org , click on the Enrollment tab then the Intent to Enroll Form. Fill that out and you’re in the lottery.
New for 2018/2019 school year, we are adding Pre-K to NSA. You will see the section on the form to fill out if you would like you student to join us for Pre-K!
If your student is not planning to return to NSA next year, make sure to check the enrollment requirements and timeline for your new school.
Attention 5th Grade Parents!
Would you like a lesson in Cornell notes?
Join Ms. Steadman for a lesson about where the notes come from in the curriculum, how the notes are taken, and how to study effectively for tests using the notes. Since studying is a main portion of homework from 5th grade thru 8th grade, I would like to offer the opportunity for you to learn about the process your student goes through from note to assessment.
Date: Tuesday, October 24th
When: 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Where: Ms. Steadman’s room
If you should have any questions please contact Ms. Steadman at email@example.com

We have almost completed the first quarter of the 2017 – 2018 school year and we still have families that do not understand or are not following our Traffic Plan! If you are not familiar with the NSA Traffic Plan, please take a few moments to review it. You have two (2) options; Park Across the Street and WALK, OR drop-off / pick-up via VEHICLE. Students CANNOT be picked up in the Classroom. If you need clarification, please contact Dee Griffin at firstname.lastname@example.org or Dawn D’Amato at email@example.com. In addition:
- Please do NOT park in the Keystone Stacking Lane during PM Pick-up. If you are parked in the Stacking Lane, you MUST be in your vehicle no later than 3:00 PM. As you know, we are having significant issues with vehicles parking in our Stacking Lane. The problem continues to get worse. We are reaching out again to Douglas Country Traffic for assistance. We will keep you notified of any changes we make to PM Pick-up.
- Please do NOT send family / friends to pick-up students without reviewing the NSA Traffic Plan with them!
- Do NOT park anywhere along the Loading / Unloading Zones including the bottom half of our cul-de-sac. We have two (2) teachers parking in this location as we currently do not have enough spaces for Staff. These are the ONLY vehicles that should be parked ‘permanently’ in the cul-de-sac during Drop-off / Pick-up.
- Make sure your HANGTAG is visible at all times during PM Pick-up and that your student(s) know their NUMBER.
- If you are switching between Vehicle Pick-up and Parent Pick-up via walking, please make sure your student AND their teacher know how the student is being picked up!!!
- All Call is 3:25 PM most days. Late Pick-up is 3:35 PM!
- Follow the rules and drop-off / pick-up with be SAFE for our students and EFFICIENT for parents!

The next Lost & Found collection is the week of 10/23. We make our best effort to return labeled items to students during this monthly clean-up, however this is not always possible. To ensure your student(s) items are returned, please label lunchboxes, water bottles, jackets, etc. Also, please keep track of students missing items, and retrieve them promptly. Any unlabeled items are bagged during the clean-up, and given to charity. Thank you!
